NULL predicate

In SQL, you cannot compare NULL
with any value using comparison predicates, as the result would yield NULL
again, which is neither TRUE
nor FALSE
(see also the manual's section about conditional expressions). In order to test a column expression for NULL
, use the NULL
predicate as such:
TITLE IS NULL TITLE IS NOT NULL
BOOK.TITLE.isNull() BOOK.TITLE.isNotNull()
Dialect support
This example using jOOQ:
BOOK.TITLE.isNull()
Translates to the following dialect specific expressions:
